Why ND

January 31, 2021
ND

It’s that time of year. You know the one. The time of year when we all want a refresh. We want to put away the holiday decor, clean house, organize and change things up. It’s also the time of year when the retailers are rolling out the spring line and sending you endless emails and text campaigns advertising FREE design consultations. So you may be tempted to go that route, because well free is way more budget friendly than hiring a designer whom charges something. So as a girl that loves a bargain as much as you do, let me be the first to say if I were in your shoes I too would be tempted. However knowing what I know about the interior decorator market I have a few things to share why ND is worth the design fee.

  1. While it may seem awesome to get a free designer (and for some this may be a good way to go) retail store designers are to no fault of their own limited. They are well versed in their company’s product, but they aren’t likely to send you to a store competitor for better deal or choose something from a small business that may suit your chosen style. Store designers are like the rest of us, trying to make a living and while I know some awesome store designers who have many years of experience - they make a commission to make up for the free consultation. Natassja Designs does not make a commission. Any discounts we receive from stores are passed onto our clients as an added perk. We are well versed in many different styles and are constantly shopping the market for the best deals/quality out there. Now I said that retail store designers are the best route for some - this is true if you know you want to purchase from that specific store and that store alone. Retail store designers are also a good option if you want some quick advice or simply want to know what PB accessory will work with that PB pillow you have had your eye on.

2. ND is founded by Natassja whom gained a certification in Interior Decorating in 2010 and was employed by a franchise painting company for a number of years to gain color theory experience. While some of the amazing design associates I know from local retailers do have a background in design, this is not true of everyone. Some design associates at retailers are not required to have a design background or degree and while they are great at selling their product, they may not have the background you assume they do. This is also true for other private designers in our market - Ohio does not require a certification or degree in interior decorating to open a interior decorating business.

3. ND designers become your decorating friend through our process. We don’t work the retail hours and we are there to help with a delivery or to let contractors into your home when you can’t be there. We are more than an adviser for your living room, we become your friend. We pride ourselves on going above and beyond for our clients. At the end of the project we want you to love your home and makes memories with your loved ones. It’s not about the sale or even our flat rate design fee, its about the story that your rooms tell.

Until next time,

Natassja
