Our clients in Lewis Center are dear college friends of our owner, Natassja, and her husband. They moved into their home years ago and found themselves starting to think about moving due to not having the space they need as their family ages. They realized that they had a few spaces that had become "dumping grounds" and weren't being used effectively. This family (like many others) found themselves not using their formal dining room or their formal sitting room. They came to the conclusion that moving was not necessary they just needed help better utilizing the spaces in a way that fit their family. This family is full of avid readers and had stacks of books begging for a home. To best utilize this space we transformed this room into a second office space and library!

We designed a 14' bookcase wall with 3C Woodworking to not only give one of the homeowners their own desk, but also house a lot of the family's books and travel treasures. If you've ever shared an office with your spouse you know the challenges that come along with it, especially if you have to take work calls. Meal times never line up and eventually just hearing them breathing on the other side of the room makes you want to scream. The bookcase wall includes built in outlets, a printer drawer, plenty of adjustable shelves, and a renewed love of working at home with their spouse.

We balanced the bookcase wall with an oversized reading chair perfect for the perfect book nook. We finished off the space with fresh paint from Hanna Painting, a new light fixture, custom roller shades, and gorgeous floor to ceiling curtains from Anthropologie,

We have a feeling this room will get a lot more use than the formal dining room ever did. Don't be afraid to reimagine your space to fit your needs, you have a say in how you truly get to make your house your home.
